As a Sri Lankan living in Dubai, I always crave for the authentic taste of Sri Lankan food. One of my favorite dishes is Koththu, a popular street food made with chopped roti, vegetables, and meat or seafood, all mixed together with spicy sauce. After hearing rave reviews about Chef Lanka Restaurant in Karama, Dubai, I finally decided to give it a try and ordered the Chicken Koththu.

When the dish arrived at my table, I could see the steam rising from the hot plate, and the aroma of spices was tantalizing my taste buds. The dish was made up of chopped roti, chicken, onions, carrots, and cabbage, all mixed together with Chef Lanka’s special sauce. The sound of the knife hitting the hot plate while the chef was making the Koththu was music to my ears.

I took my first bite, and my taste buds were immediately hit with a burst of flavors. The chicken was tender, the vegetables were crunchy, and the sauce was spicy and flavorful. The texture of the chopped roti was unique and added a chewy element to the dish. The dish was so filling that I couldn’t finish it on my own, and I had to share it with my friend.

The spiciness of the Chicken Koththu was perfect for me, but if you can’t handle too much spice, make sure to ask for a milder version. One thing that impressed me the most about Chef Lanka Restaurant was their attention to detail in the preparation process of the dish. The chef took his time and carefully chopped and mixed the ingredients to ensure that every bite was bursting with flavor.

In order to complement the spicy flavors of the Chicken Koththu, I decided to pair it with Elephant House Ginger Beer (EGB), a Sri Lankan soft drink that is popular for its spicy and refreshing taste. The combination of the spicy Koththu and the ginger beer was perfect, and it helped to cool down the heat from the spices yet EGB itself is spicy.

If you are craving for authentic Sri Lankan food in Dubai, Chef Lanka Restaurant in Deira is definitely worth a visit. Their Chicken Koththu is a must-try, and the ambiance of the restaurant, coupled with the friendly staff, makes for a delightful dining experience. Don’t forget to pair it with EGB for the perfect combination of spice and refreshment.
